What it is

Paying people you don't employ is a compliance job, not just a payment.

The Abillio Partner API lets a platform onboard freelancers, contractors and creators, issue invoices in their name, report their income to tax authorities and pay them out, all through one integration.

Abillio acts as the contractor of record through its own legal entities, so the people you pay don't need a company, and your team doesn't become their tax office.

What the API handles

Who it's for

Built for platforms that pay people they don't employ

Whether you call them freelancers, contractors, creators or independents, if your product pays them across borders, this is the layer underneath.

Marketplaces

Pay the sellers and makers on your marketplace without collecting tax paperwork from each of them.

Creator & influencer platforms

Pay UGC creators, clippers and influencers compliantly, including those who never registered a business.

Agencies & production studios

Run project fees for dozens of contractors through one flow instead of one bank transfer each.

Staffing & talent networks

Place developers and specialists anywhere and pay them without opening an entity in their country.

Travel & experience platforms

Pay local guides and hosts across borders, even students and part-timers with no company.

Translation & localization

Pay translators worldwide in one batch, without per-country withholding headaches.

How it works

From invite to payout in five steps

This is what your integration does each time you pay someone. Abillio carries the compliance work in every step.

  1. 01

    Invite

Your platform sends the freelancer an invite link.

  2. 02

    Verify

They pass an identity check and add a payout method.

  3. 03

    Invoice

An invoice is issued in their name, through the API.

  4. 04

    Pay

You pay by bank transfer or from your Abillio wallet.

  5. 05

    Payout

Abillio pays them out and you track every status.

API versions

API v1 is live. API v2 is on its way.

v1 runs in production today. v2 is Abillio rebuilt from the ground up, with hosted onboarding, invoicing your own clients, new payout methods and a richer developer toolkit. It is documented as a preview and not yet open for integrations.

Important: API v1 will be switched off when API v2 launches.

The two versions are not compatible. v2 is a complete rebuild, so an integration built on v1 will need to be migrated to v2, not just adjusted. New payout methods will only be available on v2. We'll support every v1 partner through the migration.

The problem

Collecting tax documents from every creator by hand caused delays and legal risk, and multi-currency payouts ate the founders' time.

What they did

Integrated Abillio through the API, automating creator onboarding, tax documentation and payments.

The result

  • Founders freed from payment admin to focus on growth
  • Lower legal and penalty risk from accurate tax documentation
  • Creators no longer handle tax paperwork themselves
  • Faster growth of the creator base and catalogue
